The data on how effective the COVID vaccines are grows each day. With more than 200 million Americans who have received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, we now know that the vaccines authorized in the US are safe and effective — even against newer variants.

Everyday there are more and more studies from around the world speaking to the safety and effectiveness of the COVID vaccines. For example, on January 28, 2022 a group of researchers from some of America’s top medical institutions released a study showing that keeping up to date with your COVID vaccines (including getting a booster) increases the vaccines’ effectiveness against hospitalization up to 97% for Pfizer and 88% for Moderna.

In addition to preventing COVID, all three vaccines provide strong protection against serious illness if you are infected with COVID.
