The COVID-19 vaccines are under the strictest safety monitoring systems in US history. As of February 3, 2022, more than 545 million doses have been given in the US, and 10.3 billion doses have been given worldwide. Both clinical and real-world studies have shown the vaccines to be overwhelmingly safe, with the vast majority of side effects being mild and short-lived.
